Many employees believe their skill sets will still be in demand five years from now, and spend only two hours per week on upskilling, a recent survey by global recruitment firm Hays across five markets — Malaysia, Singapore, China, Hong Kong and Japan — has found. Employers disagree. Companies, 65% of which are restructuring to keep up with evolving business needs, claim that skill shortages are hampering operations, and point to a need for a change in employee mindsets.
